The GDC Europe has conducted a survey among developers on all platforms that already exist or are yet to come. If we then look at the next-gen consoles then the PlayStation 4 most popular with developers.
However, most interest from European developers is not major game platforms. This is namely smartphones, tablets and browser games. Tablets win with 61%, followed by smartphones with 53% and browser games come shortly thereafter.
When we look at consoles, there is the most interest in the PlayStation 4 by 39%. The Steam Box follows shortly thereafter by 37% and then the Ouya by 32%. Amazingly enough, often the interest of Xbox One are very low with only 20% and the PlayStation Vita, Wii and Nintendo 3DS there just below.
There is also research on developers who are active have something in the works for these consoles. For the PlayStation 4 have 13% of European developers something in the making and for Xbox One 9%. In Nintendo, however, there is even less interested than the other companies. 5% of developers is working on a title for the Wii and only 1.5% for the Nintendo 3DS. The developers surveyed came from many countries in Europe. For the Game Developer Conference (GDC) next year, the company will still perform this examination once.
