States. Chicharito will appear wearing the Mexican national team home kit alongside the world’s top footballer, Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi. Fans in the United States will also have the option to choose the global cover featuring an iconic image of the world’s No. 1 player, Messi. This infuses each player with human-like awareness, anticipation, instincts and most importantly, reaction times. All 22 players on the field now make intelligent decisions like they would in a real match, such as anticipating tackles, avoiding tacklers or bracing for physical challenges.

With Pro Instincts, an attacking player will be aware of their opponents and can use an arm or turn their body to shrug off the challenge. Previously, players did not have this context of their surroundings, resulting in unrealistic and frustrating collisions with the opponent. In FIFA 14 they will recognize an oncoming slide tackle and be able to adjust their body movement to avoid the defender’s leg.

In unavoidable collisions, both players will brace themselves for the impact and extend their arms to break their fall or stumble as they try to regain their balance. For defenders, it is now possible to win the ball by gaining body position on a player and not having to rely solely on a tackle.

Some examples of new FIFA 14 player movements made possible by Pro Instincts are:

Leg avoidance: players are able to skip over slide tackles and outstretched legs
Players can grab limbs when pushing/pulling
Arm locks while jostling for possession
Greater variety and new types of seal-outs
Bracing for ground contact when losing balance and falling

Pro Instincts will dramatically change the way each match is played. Organically avoiding tackles and using body positioning to win the ball will make matches feel natural and life-like.

EA Sports have today unveiled the official cover art for FIFA 14 – the latest installment for the behemoth football game franchise that’s set to launch later this year on next generation consoles, as well as the current platforms.
As widely expected, the cover features Barcelona’s star striker Lionel Messi, though he isn’t likely to remain alone for long, as the publisher has announced that other stars will appear alongside him.

The Facebook post that unveiled the artwork has called for fans to say which other stars should join the Barcelona maverick on the front cover, confirming that he will be sharing his space – presumably with different players in different territories. The smart money might have been on Neymar to join him, but it’s unlikely EA Sports will choose two players from the same team: so what about Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps in the red of Manchester United? We’ll see.

You could argue that EA Sports' FIFA series has a stranglehold on the simulation soccer game genre. The publisher locked up the FIFA license for many years to come, making it the only company with access to a number of real-life teams that other publishers such as Konami can't get its hands on.

If you care only about the number of teams that are in your sports games, then sure, FIFA is king. Until I played Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 at E3, I was still convinced that I am a "FIFA guy." That might be changing, now that Konami has introduced the Fox Engine to the series, which is being used to generate facial textures and animations in a more lifelike manner.

Sports game developers traditionally don't have the resources to commit to rendering lifelike emotion for in-game athlete's faces. In the case of games such as FIFA or Madden, expressions on athletes waver between lifeless and lifeless-with-an-open-mouth. Truly, one of the biggest tangible ways to convey the excitement of scoring goals or making crucial mistakes lies in generating that emotion through the athletes that players interact with, not unlike viewing sports broadcasts in real life. 

In my time with Pro Evo 2014 at E3, I managed to cross a ball into the box and finish the play off with a beautifully executed header to score a goal. I was rewarded with a morale-boosting moment where my team collectively showed more passion on their faces than I've seen in a soccer game before, even if a few faces were only marginally different than in the past. Likewise, after mistakenly tripping a player and yielding a penalty kick to the other team, my defender scowled at the referee for his decision to reward him with a yellow card. He displayed a noticeable glare that forced me to pause and consider how ludicrous it was that a sports game on Xbox 360 hasn't offered visible individual emotion on that level before.

Sure, my Pro Evo 2014 demo had other bells and whistles. The ball physics were more refined, yet appropriately unpredictable. A clear developmental focus on physical contact between opponents strengthened the one-on-one struggles you'd see on the field, where the ball might randomly bounce away while two players with locked arms tussle. The on-field play wasn't perfect, as one pass was called offsides because the game targeted a player downfield when two teammates waited in between, but general on-field play is better than ever. While these are all great improvements, they're also exactly what we've come to expect from annual sports games.

Delivering more emotive faces through the use of tech such as the Fox Engine isn't something other developers have spent nearly enough time on. It jumped out as the secret ingredient in pushing the genre forward in a different way that brings us closer to our love for the sport of soccer. This might all be aided by the returning PES ID feature, in which Konami has faithfully recreated 100 (up from 50) different individual athlete's faces and movements in the game. Still, it's the Fox Engine that might set Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 apart from FIFA, not a lack of playable clubs.

FIFA 14 executive producer David Rutter wants the megaton footy series to reach a point where every single player has their own unique personality and AI on PS4. A lofty ambition, no doubt. But surely worth it if we end up with a hyper realistic David Goodwillie (insert schoolgirl titters) who shanks shots unlike anyone else in the game.

FIFA on PS4 aims to eventually create unqiue AI for ever player

Rutter is overseeing both the PS3 and PS4 versions of FIFA, with the latter boasting ten times the animation of the current-gen game thanks to the power of EA’s next-gen Ignite engine. This power could also potentially be used going forward to create a vast database that would allow for truly individual player AI on a grand scale.

“You know we go around catching the cream of the talent with our head capturing rigs,” says Rutter during an exclusive chat. “And it’s the same thing with the AI stats; we’re slowly but surely going about capturing absolutely everything. We want to create the most comprehensive database of everything football.”

That future of having thousands of truly individual players is a good way off, though. But at least FIFA 14 will have individualised AI for all 11 different positions on the field. ” The players on the pitch now operate as individuals that recognise what their team mates are all about, which is, I guess it’s a big freeing moment for us,” Rutter admits.
“That basically means you know if your left back is looking at going on with the ball as it becomes closer to him and he starts to react, the rest of the team is still following, if you like ‘basic orders.Now we can actually have the centre back worry about what’s going on with the left winger and the left back or the left central midfielder also being involved much more in the play, just reading what is going on.”

“We are starting to get more deeply
into creating those customised
players and personalities on the pitch”

Big name stars in FIFA 14 will also be more unique this season. “If you’re talking about the individuality of, say the difference between a Messi and a Ronaldo, then definitely we are starting to get much more deeply into creating those customised players and personalities on the pitch.” 
Rutter once again affirms it will take a long time to expand this feature to accompany every player from League Two jobbing part-time plumber all the way to preening Portuguese mega star. “With the breadth and the depth of FIFA it is going to take us a very long time to have a catalog of every player. But totally we are all about trying to create those individual moments in our game.”

i can do this one in real life to just like an few others , this one i dont  know how they going to name the trick i think something like the Ronaldo step over ore Ronaldo reverse any ways, its an combination of the reverse step over and then you push it out side with the outside of your left foot .

Just like u can see here on the picture u see the reverse step over and then on the 3th picture you see his left foot stepping out, there this old skill is going to expand . whats going to change you can now on that moment set the direction to left so the left foot shimmy's the ball to the left and when done probably you can fool youre opponent twice and he is send the wrong direction. then u are in clear space and run in to the hole you just created.

In this latest FTW interview, EA SPORTS™ FIFA 14 Producer and pretty handy footballer Kantcho Doskov discusses new Skill Moves and even demoing one for real. We then talk about Precision Movement, what it's all about and how you’ll be using both sticks when you start playing the next FIFA.

 

FTW: Kantcho, You're a keen footballer and one that has actually been motion captured so you’ve actually been in the previous FIFA games?
 

K.D: Yes, I had the chance a few years ago to suit up and have my motion captured including several skill moves and several shooting animations.

 

Are there any new skill moves that you can tell us about for FIFA 14?
There is one new skill move that Ronaldo likes to do from time to time, it’s basically a combination from a previous skill move called the ‘Reverse Step Over’ and what you do is you step over the ball, you touch it with your instep then use the outside of your foot to knock it the other way. It’s sort of like a double fake and it’s really effective when you get it right.

 

Why would you use that move on the pitch Kantcho?
When you’re facing up your defender on the wing, one on one, that’s the best place.

 

Is there one tip, or one super tip, that you would give those who read this interview or watch the videos to help them get ahead of the pack?
When you first pick up FIFA 14 you’re going to notice that the pace is slower and much more realistic, so you’re going to have to take some time to adjust to that. But the one tip that I would give is to try to use the ‘Protect The Ball’ – the ‘Left Trigger’. This going to slow down the pace of the game, allow you to keep ball possession, and bring your teammates rather than just hoofing it forward or trying to sprint down the wing. It’s my new favourite FIFA 14 game mechanic and I hope everyone tries it out. It’s not something that you need to use, but I recommend it.

One of the major new gameplay developments in FIFA 14 is Precision Movement. Can you tell us a little bit about that?
Yes. Precision Movement is something that we have been working on for the last couple of years, revamping our locomotion system to be completely new, to focus more on momentum preservation, proper weight shifts and changes of direction. So in FIFA 14 the Left Trigger is now used to protect the ball whereas previously you’d use the Left Trigger for Skill Moves and Close Control. How do you do Skill Moves now?
So Skill Moves are a lot more intuitive now. It’s only the Right Stick – that’s all you have use! No need to hold the Left Trigger anymore if you want to do Skill Moves, but the Left Trigger is now ‘Protect The Ball’. So anytime you are standing, jogging, running, sprinting, dribbling you can simply hold down the ‘Left Trigger’ and the player will use his body, use his arms, or do whatever he can to get in between the defender and the ball. So using the physicality of that player to slow down the game, allow time for his teammates to join in the attack is something that a user can do whenever they like and is just an alternative to holding down the sprint button using pace all the time.

Gamescom promisses to be the grant show down for new Games!

Earlier this week we indicated that the Sony PlayStation Vita will be pushing at Gamescom, but that is not the only platform that will get much attention at the biggest European fair. "What we try to do is provide a relatively level playing field and let the players decide," said Longworth. "We're not trying to encourage them, believe in consumer choice.Longworth recognizes that not everyone is ready to embrace a digital-only future, and forcing people to do what you just put out your brand.
"It is clear that the vast majority of people want to go to GameStop and Best Buy, who do not want to buy it online now.
